VILLAZAN: ESTAMPA

VILLAZAN was pleased to announce its participation in the 34th edition of Estampa.

September 24 - 27 2026

For this edition, the gallery presented a selection of works by Edgar Plans, Eline Boerma, Elvira Fustero, Sandra Rojo Picón and Daniel Sánchez Palomo , bringing together in one space five different approaches to contemporary creation and establishing a dialogue between artists of different generations, backgrounds and sensibilities.

The proposal stems from a reflection on contemporary figuration and its potential as a territory for experimentation . Far from understanding the figure solely as representation, the works gathered in the stand explore issues related to identity, memory, emotion, imagination, and individual experience, through languages that move between the intimate and the universal.

Painting occupies a central place in the exhibition, understood as a space of freedom in which each artist constructs a deeply personal universe. From more gestural and narrative languages to approaches where matter, color, or introspection take center stage, the project seeks to highlight the vitality and diversity of contemporary painting practices.

Alongside this selection, Edgar Plans ' participation was particularly significant. VILLAZAN presented various paintings by the artist, as well as his limited-edition sculptural project developed in collaboration with Lladró , translating into three-dimensional form some of the characters and visual codes that have defined his artistic vision.

Sculpture offers a fresh perspective on Plans's universe, where his familiar characters serve as vehicles for exploring creativity, imagination, individuality, and the transformative power of art. The transition from the painted surface to the three-dimensional object expands this language and establishes a dialogue between painting, sculpture, and the artisanal traditions associated with porcelain.
